John Hamel, LCSW, provides individual expert consultation to mental health professionals, prosecutors, defense attorneys, victim advocates and others on a variety of issues and topics related to family violence, and provides expert court testimony.  He is a court approved batterer intervention provider with 18 years experience working with perpetrators and victims of family violence.

John Hamel, LCSW has a Masters in Social Welfare from U.C.L.A. and has conducted family violence programs in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1992.  He is the Editor-in-Chief of a peer reviewed professional journal, Partner Abuse, has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, and is the author of Gender-Inclusive Treatment of Intimate Partner Abuse (Springer, 2005) and co-editor of Family Interventions in Domestic Violence: A Handbook of Gender-Inclusive Theory and Treatment (Springer, 2007). Mr. Hamel provides professional consultation, training and expert court testimony, and has spoken on family violence in a variety of settings, including conferences sponsored by the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, Institute of Violence, Aggression and Trauma, and University of New Hampshire.  His latest book is Intimate Partner and Family Abuse:  A Casebook of Gender Inclusive Therapy (Springer, 2008).  John can also be contacted via e-mail at: johnmhamel@comcast.net.
